People with large families who qualify for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit can get free help on Saturdays at several state locations, though none of the sites is in southeastern Connecticut.
The IRS Taxpayer Assistance Centers in Bridgeport at 915 Lafayette Blvd.; Danbury at 131 West St.; Hartford at 135 High St.; New Haven at 150 Court St., and Waterbury at 14 Cottage Place will be open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 30, Feb. 6 and Feb. 20.
Anyone earning under $49,000 last year may be eligible for the tax credit. For local IRS hours and information, call (860) 439-7963.
